Sambar

Ingredients
  • 1/2Cup - Toor Dhal
  • 1Onion - Finely chopped
  • 2Cups - Veggies ( carrot/potato/Brinjal/Drumstick/Beans) of ur choice
  • 1Cup -Tomato
  • 2nos - Garlic cloves
  • 3tsp - Tamarind Extract
  • 2tsp - Sambar Powder
  • 1/4tsp - Turmeric Powder
  • Red chilli powder - As required
  • A pinch of Hing
Seasoning
  • 1/2tsp - Mustard seeds
  • 2nos - Dry chilies
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • 1tsp - Channa dhal
  • 1tsp - Urad dhal
  • Corriander for granishing

Procedure

Pressure cook the dhal along with garlic n turmeric powder and keep aside.

In a pan heat the oil,add onions n fry till it turns transparent,then add tomatos.

Now add all the powders n veggies of ur choice along with 1/2cup water stir well n close the lid.Let it cook till the veggies turns tender n soft.

Add the tamarind extract stir well n leave it for few mins.

At last add the cooked dhal along with water(2cups or as required),stir well n bring to boil.

In a seperate pan heat the oil,add mustard seeds,when it splutters,add the seasoning ingredientsexcept corriander leaves n fry for few mins.

Pour the seasoning into the sambar n Granish with corriander.

Note
Its goes good with Dosa varities,Rice,Pongal.
